The Roamin’Catholics Southwest meeting was called to order
at
Helen told us what she had learned at the Redmond National Convention in Aug. 2004.
- There is going to be a Chapter Fair at the Indio Western Area rally. It will be a one hour affair and our chapter would man a table with our information and applications available. Barlow Thompson volunteered himself and his wife Phyllis to cover this event. Helen has pictures that can be displayed.
- A pre-rally had been discussed and dismissed.
- Tony Vincent, Rally Master, said that a pot-luck chapter dinner was a “go”, but as yet, we don’t have a day or time. He will let Helen know and she will pass on the information.
-
There will be a mass (time and place to be determined)
the two days before the rally for those there early. There will be a mass the first day of the
rally at
- Father Carney will say the masses. He would appreciate our chapter taking care of his entrance fee into the grounds as his payment.
- The collection money from the masses will come to our Southwest chapter. We could choose to divide these monies with other Roamin’ Catholic Chapters. We were given one hundred dollars by Sylvia Gummersall, Treasurer of the Roamin’ Catholics, from the collections made at the Redmond National Convention.
Helen said that she felt we needed a Membership Chairman and a Newsletter Chairman. The secretary felt that a Membership Chairman would duplicate some of the secretary’s duties without really relieving them, but that a newsletter Chairman was really needed.
Barlow Thomson’s resignation from the Vice Presidency letter was read by Helen White. He felt that it was important for someone to take the job that could become president following Helen. He has some conflicts with other organization obligations. There were no immediate volunteers for any of these offices.
Rich Goodin suggested nominating people for these offices at the January Indio meeting to give people time to think about it and, when more members are present for a quorum. It was seconded by Barlow and all present agreed.
Gen Kessler (who was rally master for
Treasurer, Betty Goodin, gave the treasurer’s report that indicated $290.00 was deposited in our new bank account at Union Bank. $56.60 was spent on supplies for the offices of secretary and treasurer (including stamps) leaving $233.40 on hand. $40.00 more is due from rewritten checks for a projected balance of $273.40 for our first year.
Gen displayed prize items donated by FMCA to be given out at rallies. She pulled numbers and the members present picked out prizes.
Larry Schmidt made a motion to adjourn and Barlow seconded
the motion. Meeting adjourned at
