PRESIDENTS' MESSAGE,
Ben Avila is our new Vice President, replacing Richard Hiel. Ben says he will work on
membership. Thanks Ben.
We enjoyed our weekend at San Miguel Archangel Mission. The earthquake four years ago did
severe damage to the whole complex, most has been retro fitted except the church. As soon
as they have $15,000,000 they will restore the church. Monica took us on a tour of the
property including areas not open to the general public, what history.
There is a parish there as well as the Mission. They are raising money to build a
multi purpose building to be used as a church until the Mission can be restored. They had
a fiesta at the church on Sunday. After Ben and Donna left, our daughter and son-in-law
came up from Atascadero to enjoy the food with us. The Mission Fiesta Committee raised
$2500 toward their building fund.
I received a nice thank you note from the pastor. He said he and his parishioners
were grateful for the work we did on the court yard and the cemetery.
