President's Message - June 2005

We had a camp out the 5th - 85h of June at Far West RV in Santa Paula. There were 8 rigs in attendance. The weather and peacocks cooperated (not too hot and not too noise). Sunday afternoon those that had not already attended Mass went to St. Sebastian's at 5 PM. We returned to the campground to eat. Each night we were entertained by our Roamin' musicians. Rich and Wally played the guitars and several voices joined in the singing. We had a campfire each night. It was needed most evenings because of the cool damp air.

Monday afternoon we went to St. Thomas Aquinas College. We had a wonderful guide and a very interesting tour of the buildings and the beautiful grounds. Our 40 minute tour turned into an hour and a half. I believe most of us could have stayed longer but felt we had taken up enough of our guide's time. We have pictures to share. We had dinner at the airport restaurant that evening.

Tuesday some went to Ojai, some for rides around the area, some to the Ventura Mission and nearby museum, others stayed at the campground and relaxed. We had our potluck barbeque at the clubhouse that evening, then back to the campfire. We had a door prize drawing, and lots of visiting. Wally Cravens volunteered to do a newsletter for us and Donna Avila will work on a web page, along with Bob Gummersal who has been doing it for us in the past. I am still having trouble reaching our roster. THANKS Wally, Donna, and Bob.

I am mailing this because we are having computer problems again (same old story), when we are home it will be fixed. I am doing this in Boise, ID, because the one I did at home I left out something. I probably have left something out of this also, but I want you all to know we are still active and that I am on my way to Minot, ND, to represent the ROAMIN' CATHOLICS SOUTHWEST.

Let me know if anyone would like to do a fall camp out. GOD BLESS and have a wonderful and safe summer.
