ROAMIN’ CATHOLICS SOUTHWEST RALLY MINUTES
INDIO, CA
January 11, 2006
The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. in the Home Arts Bldg. on the Indio Fairgrounds
by Helen White, President. There were 24 members present. We began with a salute to the flag and
a prayer. Helen then introduced guests and new members.
It was announced that Mass for the evening was cancelled because Father Carney wasn’t feeling well.
The secretary’s report from the last meeting was read. There were no additions or corrections.
A motion was made to accept the minutes as read. It was seconded and all voted in favor of
acceptance.
Unfinished business:
There are enough new members and old members who don’t have RCSW badges to
submit the names to Bob Gummersal to be made. The secretary will send the list.
Helen discussed having RCSW envelopes ordered in bulk to be used in collections
when we visit other churches and missions to make them aware of our chapter. FMCA will not pay
for those, we would bulk order them and pay them a nominal fee. Helen will pursue the matter
further.
Ondina and Richard Hiel told us about the location and possible dates for a
spring RCSW camp-out that they will organize if there is enough interest. The location is the
Martawa Viejas Mission and campgrounds on an Indian Reservation in San Diego area.
There is also a casino by the same name nearby with busses provided to take you back and forth.
There seemed to be considerable interest, so they will follow through and let us know the
details.
New Business:
Helen explained the Chapter Fair and invited everyone to drop in on Sunday.
Helen will pursue the possibility of RCSW membership recruitment through
Catholic newspapers by counties. The monies will be provided by FMCA.
The Treasurer is now collecting dues for 2006. RCSW membership is $10.00.
The following slate of officers was submitted by Phyllis Hogue, the election
committee chairman.
President: Helen White
Vice President: Richard Hiel
Secretary/Treasurer: Betty Goodin
National Director: Helen White
Alternate National Director: Phyllis Hogue
The slate was accepted, voted on, and all were in favor of the candidates.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m. with a prayer.
Respectfully submitted, Betty Goodin, Secretary
