This article appeared in November 2009 issue of Family Motor Coaching Magazine. It is well written and comprehensive on the definition of chapters. The Governing Board approved a new chapter concept called "Associate." I hope this article is helpful to you and clarifies the different categories of FMCA chapter definitions. If you have any questions, please email me.

September 25, 2009. TO: Northwest Area Chapter Officers
FROM: Judy Keppler, President
The location for our April 6-9, 2010 for the Northwest Area business and planning meeting has been changed from Redmond, OR to the Land Yacht RV Park in Lacey, WA. The dates have not changed, just the location. Deschutes County Fair & Expo in Redmond, OR will not allow food (except catered) in the meeting rooms. We are not permitted to use a caterer of our choice, have potluck meals, etc. but rather we must use the authorized fairgrounds caterer.
The recent business and planning meeting meals were great and the delegates in attendance were very appreciative of the efforts of the "meal planning" ladies who organized and carried them out. In fact, the consensus of the group was that we should continue doing the same with those who wanted to volunteer to help to have the option to do so. The Northwest Area Executive Board is also in agreement to change the location for our business and planning meeting.
Another factor in the decision to move from Redmond to the Land Yacht Harbor RV Park is the assurance of a building to use with a great kitchen that we get as a bonus!
Please mark your calendars for the next Northwest Area Business and Planning Meeting. Remember, the Northwest Area pays for 2 coaches from each chapter to attend these meetings. The Northwest Area is the host for the Redmond Convention. That means we get the majority of volunteers from the Northwest. I would love to see all chapters in the Northwest participate in volunteering for Redmond.

Each chapter can submit a small description, up to 2,000 characters, about their chapter and it will be placed online and be included in the keyword search on the FMCA website. I urge you to take advantage of this ability to showase your chapter. A lot of people go online and search for chapters in their areas.
If you need help in describing your chapter's scope and description, please contact chapter services by email to cbudai@fmca.com or call 800-543-4717.
