Volunteers Needed! See Rally Page

December 29, 2013

To: All members of the Northwest Area of FMCA

I would like to pass on my thanks to all of you, the members, who have supported the Northwest Area. Thank you for your support in chapters, their rallies, FMCA National Rallies and just taking a interest in the organization during this past year. Our past National Rally in Gillette was exceptionally represented by the Northwest members. You should all be proud of your involvement and the continued success of having a National Rally with all volunteers. The Northwest Area Rally which was held after the National in Gillette was very well attended and was once again a great success because of your involvement. Your support ensured a profitable Rally and added more coinage to our Northwest Bank Account.

I hope that the Chapter National Directors have passed on our latest Executive Board meeting minutes to all of you. Some of the highlights are, we are looking for and are in negotiations with a new vehicle insurance provider. This provider will have access to all states and many different insurance providers. It will be a one stop shopping experience with the broker looking for the best deal for you. GMAC will no longer be our exclusive FMCA provider after March 2014. We are, also, offering a new Roadside Package and have partnered with KOA to get you a better rate. The Michelin Tire Program is ramping up to more classes of Motorhomes and will also soon include light website and watch for e-mail blasts about the added benefits available to you.

One of our still troubling areas is member retention. It is a fact, we are losing more members then what we recruit. We, as members, need to try and involve new members more in your association and find out what interests them. Those that join now only stick around for two years and then we lose them because they don't feel involved. A good target area for those of you who need new members for your chapters? Remember, chapters get a list of new members in your area, so please contact them.

For those of you heading south this winter, I will be heading down to Indio, California for the Western Area Rally. We will be holding a chapter fair and, also, a Northwest Area Gathering. Please look for the signs we will have posted; once we find a good day and time to once again meet and greet in warmer climates. I hope to see many of you there. As of this date, there are 128 Northwest Area member coaches attending.

From Indio, Kathie and I will be travelling to Quartzite, Arizona; we will be helping out at the Big Tent RV show. We will be at the FMCA Booth in the Big Tent, so please drop by and let's have a chat. If any of the NW chapters are out in the desert at that time, drop me a line and we will drop by and have a refreshment.

A quick reminder that we are still looking for volunteers for the 2014 Redmond National FMCA Rally. Please contact Bud and Marje Fouts at and let them know you would love to work long hours, have people tell you that you have no idea what your doing, and if the weather becomes hot, well, that will be your fault too. So, please feel free to help out, meet new friends and rekindle old friendships.

Just a reminder the first Business and Planning Meeting for 2014 is June 2 – 5, 2014. It will be held at the Yakama National RV Park in Toppenish, WA. Final planning for Redmond will be done at that meeting. More information will be sent out in early March. Please mark your calendars.

I want to wish all of you Happy New Year and a safe 2014. Kathie and I want to thank you for your kind words and e-mails this past year. We hope wherever you are, you are with family and loved ones.

Safe Travels

Andy and Kathie
